Watching this person’s set. I’m a huge fan of the samples used and the overall improvisational aspect. DJing is based on 2 skills: Beatmatching and Selection. If you’re a producer who wants a more live method of performing your music, controllerism is gonna be it. It’s high time we stop crucifying anyone who doesn’t use turntables. Believe it or not, a lot of techno’s biggest artists first performed with samplers and drum machines. How is that any different from what this guy is doing in this clip? How you perform live is your choice.

Okay……….. this is something that infuriates me as a DJ and an artist. This is an epidemic of epic proportions. Promoters all over America are really trying to cash in on Electronic Dance Music as much as possible since it has shown to be mad profitable over the past couple of years.

Honestly thats a great thing. Plenty of people in this country like electronic music enough that big electronic pioneers, like DJ Shadow, should be getting prime time at big nightclubs all over the world but, My HUGEEEEEE problem is ….. THE FUCKING DISCONNECT BETWEEN THE PROMOTER, THE AUDIENCE AND TALENT.

Promoters and club owners aren’t doing their fucking homework before they book their talent. They’re just seeing how many fans an artist has on soundcloud or on facebook and automatically guessing they spin LMFAO.

If you havent heard, recently DJ Shadow (hip hop genius) got booked to play at Mansion (mainstream club) in Miami and he got cut because his set wasn’t commercial enough. I’ve listened to this mix and I’m guessing the people who weren’t feeling it probably wanted to hear some David Guetta, or Steve Aoki, or anyone produced by Afrojack. They clearly didn’t wanna hear any Trap, footwork, undergound hip hop, etc. Hence, THE PROMOTER WAS SLACKING HIS/HER ASS OFF.

Study your crowd ANNNNNND your potential talent (COMMON SENSE).

If you promote for some bull shit, rich kid, lamester club that only responds to fake-progressive house (i.e. electro house), trance or, “Party Rocker” music, DON’T BOOK THE GODFATHER OF WEST COAST SAMPLE-BASED HIP HOP. Why waste your time or his? It infuriates me to the high heavens to know that thats the way this scene is headed; get booked for your fans and get delegated what to play, FUCK THAT!!!!. I would imagine this would be why some many artists are switching to ableton when playing out. At least you can tell the promoter this mix is set and ya can’t change it thus, avoiding the “we want a jukebox DJ” gigs.

Well without further ado, here is the infamous “All Basses Covered Mix” Live from The Mansion Nightclub, Miami … you tell me if this would appeal to the “Mansion” crowd.

I think I’ll stick to playin hipster venues … at least they appreciate the shit

After getting 64 plays in one day (which never happens for me) I made a promise, on facebook, that would finish a song and put it up for free today IF I got up to 300 followers by this morning … well I have 301 now …… soooo I must honor my engagement.

I saw ‘The Hobbit’ a few days ago in 2D at 24fps as I’m not at all a fan of 3D. As the first part of the trilogy from Peter Jackson I can’t say I was blown away at all unfortunately. I understand that there was a lot of exposition required in order to set up all of the characters, locations etc but it seemed to drag on for ages before I relaxed into my seat. There were certain elements that I really enjoyed about the film for example the dialogue between Bilbo and Gollum specifically and how certain aspects still adhered to the book. Overall I wasn’t impressed by the film as much as I wanted to be and the sharpness of the film was a bit too much causing me to think that I was constantly looking at a video game.

What did you make of ‘The Hobbit’?
